The Icelandic show, called Réttur
("Court"), depicted the lives and work of lawyers in Reykjavík, and aired in 2009. DV
reports that the show has apparently attracted attention from abroad, as NBC has bought the rights to it.
The American version will be called Ritter
, and will be produced by Howard Gordon and Alex Cary.
Gordon and Cary have made a name for themselves when it comes to developing adaptions of television shows from outside the US. They were also responsible for Homeland
, which was originally an Israeli TV show.Réttur
was produced by Saga Film and starred Magnús Jónsson, Jóhanna Vigdís Arnardóttir and Víkingur Kristjánsson in the main roles. The cast for the lead roles of Ritter
have not yet been determined.
