Government Support Below 50%

Published August 20, 2013

Support for the ruling coalition has dipped below the 50% mark after only being in power for about four months.
Last April, the current ruling coalition of the Independence Party and the Progressives were voted into office. The latest poll from Market and Media Research shows that their level of support has declined to 49.3% – down from 54% only one month previous.
According to the poll, the only two parties to see a rise in support over this time period are the Leftist-Greens, from 13.1% to 14.4%, and the Progressives, from 16.7% to 18.1%. All other parties saw a drop in support.
The Independence Party went from 29.7% to 27.9%; the Social Democrats went from 13.5% to 13%; Bright Future went from 12.3% to 11.7%; and the Pirate Party went from 8.4% to 7.1%.
914 people over the age of 18 were contacted for the poll, which was conducted from 9 to 14 August.
