From Iceland — Hunt Of Minke Whales Picking Up

Hunt Of Minke Whales Picking Up

Published August 20, 2013

Minke Whaling picked up last week when five minke whales were landed, three of which were caught in bay Faxaflói in the southwest, and two in Ísafjarðardjúp, Westfjords.

All in all, 35 minke whales have been caught this summer, which is similar to last year’s season, mbl.is reports.

Gunnar Bergmann Jónsson, manager of the Minke Whalers’ Association, told mbl.is that he has hope of over 40 minke whales be caught this summer, but over 50 animals need to be caught in order to meet the increased demand of shops and restaurants throughout the year.
