Does President Guðni Hate Mustangs?: An Intern Responds

Published August 9, 2019

President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson continues to prove he is against everything I stand for. First, he came out against pineapple on pizza and I said nothing, because while I love a good pepperoni pizza with jalapeños and pineapple, I understand that the combination of sweet and savoury is not for everyone, and the texture of cooked pineapple can be repulsive to some. I can see how an individual might not like it, and I did not see his threat to ban it in Iceland as serious.

But now he has crossed the line. A headline at Vísir said that Guðni does not recommend the Ford Mustang. Reading the article, I discovered that he said this at a meeting of the Mustang Club in Iceland. These are bold words to be spoken at a club with over a hundred members. He said he cannot recommend the Mustang for everyone because of environmental reasons. Oh. I actually agree with that.

Well, this is embarrassing. I suppose I should read an article before I respond to the headline.
