The Westfjords Police reported on their Facebook page that a glacier iceberg is located off the coast of the Westfjords. The Icelandic Coast Guard has issued a warning to seafarers.

A Coast Guard helicopter flew over the iceberg and the Westfjords’ headlands yesterday to ensure that no polar bear had hitched a ride. It turned out that no polar bear was present on the iceberg.

Earlier this year, a polar bear was indeed spotted in the Westfjords. It was promptly shot by the authorities.
