The forecast for the week in Iceland is a double-edged sword: the work week will be dry, but at or below freezing, while the weekend promises to be warmer, but with considerable rain.
Temperatures in Iceland will be at or below -5°C with mostly to fully cloudy skies for much of the country. East Iceland will experience sunnier skies, but temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than the rest of the country.
Precipitation will be fairly scant during this time, with the possibility of snowfall in South Iceland tomorrow and Thursday.
Those particularly sensitive to freezing temperatures can take heart that come Friday around noon, temperatures will begin to rise back up to around 5°C, but with a catch: heavy rains are expected across southern Iceland, including the greater Reykjavík area, through Friday and Saturday, with drizzle or cloudy skies in the northern portion of the country.
All that said, Sunday afternoon will likely turn out to be a very good day for weather, as temperatures stay above freezing while the clouds part to reveal mostly to fully sunny skies for much of the country, with the possible exception of southeast Iceland, which may see some drizzle.
