There is a remarkable difference in price for someone with or without glasses when it comes to 3D movies.

Stundin reports that Sambíó and Smárabíó charge people who wear glasses about 350% to 700% more for 3D glasses. For someone without glasses, 3D glasses cost 150 ISK at Sambíó and 175 ISK at Smárabíó. People who wear glasses, however, pay 1,200 ISK at Sambíó and 600 ISK at Smárabíó.

The price difference may be because the 3D ones need a clip to attach them to a movie-goer’s glasses, but this has not been confirmed. When Stundin asked Alfreð Ásberg Árnason, one of the owners of Sambíó, to explain why the price difference is this great, he responded, “I don’t know because I don’t have the information in front of me now.” He then hung up.

One possible solution to this problem is for glasses-wearing movie-goers to buy “regular” 3D glasses, and wear them over their spectacles. While slightly uncomfortable, it is one way around paying the high mark-up on clip-on 3D glasses.
