Hrútar tells the story of two brothers who have not spoken for forty years. When an illness begins to spread through their neighbouring farms the two join forces to save what they love the most, their sheep.
The reward for best film in this category will be given out by the President of the Cannes Un Certain Regard Jury, Isabella Rossellini, during the festival which will be held from May 13-24.
Hrútar joins other renowned Icelandic films who screened in the Un Certain Regard lineup, Sódóma Reykjavík from 1993, Stormy Weather from 2003 and Dark Horse from 2005.
