Icelandic singer and artist Björk has been named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2015.

“As an artist, she’s always on the edge of everything, but it’s not trendy because even when she is working with the latest technology, fashion, images or sounds, she is always offering her own, deeply personal world,” Serbian artist Marina Abramovic wrote for TIME. “If you are really true to yourself and really follow your intuition in the most rigorous way, there is a moment that becomes universal, that reaches everybody. That’s the real magic of Björk—she teaches us the courage to be ourselves.”

So far 2015 has been a big year for Björk which saw not only the release of her eighth studio album Vulnicura but the opening of a retrospective of her work at New York’s famous Museum of Modern Art.

“I can’t believe that people are still interested in what I’m doing after all these years,” Björk told the Grapevine in our extended interview with her back in February. “That still surprises me.”
