Icelandic Movie To Get American Indie Remake

Published June 8, 2012

The film world is currently abuzz with the news of a secretive movie project from David Gordon Green, which is a remake of the Icelandic comedy Á Annan Veg.
The original film – also known by its English title, Either Way – stars Hilmar Guðjónsson and Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson and was directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson. It follows the lives of two men as they do roadwork in Iceland’s remote countryside, chronicling their personal transformations and misadventures.
Variety reports that David Gordon Green – whose repertoire includes All The Real Girls and Pineapple Express – has just wrapped up filming of a new project, called Prince Avalanche. The movie is reported to be an indie affair – where Green is reported to do his best work – and stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch in the lead roles. Shooting was done in the more isolated parts of Texas, and has the same plot as the original.
There is as yet no word on when the film will be released, but you can see the trailer for the original – with English subtitles – here:
