ATP Iceland have announced a bunch of new bands for their 2016 edition.
As the festival has proven in its three years to date, there’s nothing quite like partying in the 24 hour daylight on a decommissioned US Air Force base on the western edge of Europe. Especially when ATP have concocted a super-sweet menu of homegrown and imported classic and emerging artists from various spheres and genres for your delectation.
This year, said menu is now set to include post-rock champs Tortoise, experimental electronic artist Blanck Mass (one half of Fuck Buttons) and vaunted nu-country star Angel Olsen, as well as Lebanese singer-songwriter Yasmine Hamdan, Les Savy Fav, Sleep, Anika, TY SEGALL and THE MUGGERS, and Mueran Humanos. On the Icelandic team so far are Örvar Smárason and Gunnar Tynes of Mùm, who’ll perform over a screening of the 1930 film ‘Menschen am Sonntag’.
Also announced is a set from UK comedian Stewart Lee.
The festival takes place at the ÁSBRÚ base in Keflavík, Iceland, 1-3 July 2016, and tickets are on sale now.
