It’s the weekend and here at the Reykjavík Grapevine, we understand that you want to find fun and interesting things to do but don’t want to do any of the research. So our amazing interns have compiled a short list of what they think is worth seeing and doing in and around town this weekend, so you don’t have to. For a complete list visit the Listings Page.
Anna recommends Cory Arcangel’s exhibit ‘All the Small Things’. It’s a bit like real life version of one of those “you know you grew up in the 90s if” Buzzfeed lists, so you can get out of the house and do precisely what you would have done at home on your computer.
Victor is going to see DJ Alfons X because he thinks “it could be fun”. There will be great electronic music in a nice location at one of most popular bars in Reykjavík.
Steffi is excited about DJ Kári at the Lagaffe Tales DJ Set. Paloma is always a good idea and the music will relax you, so go, and enjoy yourself, whether you want to or not.
Saturday
Anna would like to take in a show at Tjarnarbíó. South African dancer Oupa Sibeko is performing her 20 minute Dance Performance: Nightmare, and it is certain to be interesting to watch.
Victor is totes on top of the house music theme, and has been listening since he was in diapers. Therefore would have been pumped to see DJ Logi Pedro connect electronic beats with Hip-Hop music.
Steffi was so excited that the Stockfish Film festival is taking place for the first time, she sent in her pick with an exclamation point. There will be 30 films showing at Bío Paradís over the next week and on Saturday at 20:00 The Mafia Only Kills in Summer will be on in Room 3.
However, none of them will be going to see these particular events because they all are going to Húrra Grapevine! Prins Póló / Páll Ívan frá Eiðum. This is THE event to see and be seen at, so don’t miss it!
Sunday
After seeing ‘TAUGAR’ by Iceland Dance Company, Anna insists that everyone must see it as well. There is another showing this Sunday, and only one more after that so see it now or forever be embarrassed when people bring up Karol Tyminski and Saga Sig’s new work at dinner parties and you have no idea what they’re talking about.
Victor loves himself some troubadours. He’s the guy who insists on yelling “FREE BIRD” over and over again. He says that Troubadour Andri is basically the bomb and that the Dubliner Pub is a cosy location with a great Irish flair.
Steffi is going to take in some cool photos at Bragi Þór Jósefsson’s exhibition, ‘Iceland Defence Force’, at the Reykjavík Photography Museum. She says she’s always wanted to know what the base looks now that it’s been vacant for so long.
