The bus driver who emptied the bus’ septic tank on a roadside in Selfoss was found in Egilsstaðir yesterday, where he confessed the dirty deed and fined of 150,000 ISK.
As Grapevine reported yesterday, locals in Selfoss were outraged on Monday when witnesses reported that the driver of a tour bus from abroad simply emptied the bus’ toilet waste on the ground in the town’s container area.
But thanks to news coverage at Bylgjan and visir.is, police received information about where the bus had been spotted and could trace its journey to Egilssaðir, in East Iceland. It turns out to be from Rubi Reisen, a tour operator in Switzerland.
The bus driver therefore received a phone call from the police yesterday and was questioned via phone with the help of an interpreter and immediately confessed to having dumped shit on Selfoss, which is a breach of health regulations. He agreed to settle the matter instantly by paying the fine.
