The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST) recently intervened to remove two dogs from their owners after determining that the animals were being kept in unacceptable conditions, reports RÚV.

According to a statement on MAST’s website, the dogs were confiscated from their caretakers due to inadequate care. Although details of the cases have not yet been published, it was reported that one dog was located in South Iceland and the other in the capital region.

In a separate case, MAST enforced improvements in horse care at the owner’s expense. Horses had been confined to a paddock without access to grazing in northwest Iceland. To address this, MAST temporarily relocated the horses to a rented paddock with better conditions.

Note that the dog pictured is not one of those confiscated by MAST.
