It has been a weird week so far in Iceland. Our election system is up in the air after a mess with the vote count in the northwest of the country and an odd light was spotted in the dark sky of Iceland on Monday. The weather is also really bad, to the extent that even the Icelandic Met office is baffled by the new storm hitting the West of Iceland.

The next issue of Reykjavík Grapevine is out on October 8! Get it sent to your door by becoming a subscriber. If you sign up this week, you get the chance to win a Volcano Box from our store, and a winner will be randomly picked on Monday.

Nothing beats the smell of fresh newsprint delivered to your doorstep.
We are now preparing the October issue of The Reykjavík Grapevine. Like usual, it includes content that will not see the light of the internet, because some stories are just better shared in physical format.
Don’t miss out! Subscribe to enter a pot to win a prize from our store! The Grapevine Volcano box, with Books about volcanic activity, Chocolate Lava, Lava salt and an actual piece of lava rock from our current eruption in Fagradalsfjall Volcano.

Note: Due to the effect the Coronavirus is having on tourism in Iceland, it’s become increasingly difficult for the Grapevine to survive. If you enjoy our content and want to help the Grapevine’s journalists do things like eat and pay rent, please consider joining our High Five Club.

You can also check out our shop, loaded with books, apparel and other cool merch, that you can buy and have delivered right to your door

Also you can get regular news from Iceland—including the latest notifications on eruptions, as soon as they happen—by signing up to our newsletter.
