Royal pudding, long an Icelandic staple dessert, has introduced a new flavour for the first time since the 1960s—salted caramel—and Icelanders are over the moon about the prospect.
The company’s Icelandic branch announced the momentous event on Facebook yesterday morning, and it is due on the shelves next week. If the comments with the post are any indication, responding Icelanders are positively delighted by the news.
Fréttablaðið reports that Royal pudding has been manufactured in Iceland since 1954.
While not especially popular with the younger generation, Royal pudding apparently enjoys enough of an enduring following to make room for a new flavour—and one very well received at that.
