After the issuing of a yellow alert for the south of Iceland yesterday, a bus with 23 people accidentally went off-road, Vísir reports.

The accident took place this shortly before 8:00 this morning, with the bus ending up in a shallow river. The rescue team was called to Hafurshóll, between Hella and Vík í Mýrdal; fortunately, no one was hurt. The rescue forces had to take the 23 passengers to a Red Cross mass relief station in Heimaland.

The yellow warning for southwest Iceland, announced yesterday by the Icelandic Met Office, is expected to only calm down today around at 19:00. Gusts reached up 40 meters per second this morning, and similar conditions are expected during the day today. The Met Office warns that driving in this weather is especially dangerous for bigger vehicles.

Please pay attention to the road and weather conditions while travelling.
