As reported, on October 11 The Icelandic Met Office warned people that very heavy rains and possible floods were to be expected over the next couple of days.
The forecast proved accurate, as most parts of the country got a decent portion of strong wind and downpour. Some flooding was also reported in the south and northwest, but the waterlines have reportedly reached their high points earlier today.
On a happier note, this weekend comes with promises of clear skies and sunshine, and a very good chance of seeing some Northern Lights tonight.
