The bird of prey was photographed and filmed making short work of a common starling.
Þórarinn Einarsson was in the parking lot of the Bónus supermarket on Ingólfsstræti yesterday when he witnessed a rare event.
Þórarinn also took some photos of the falcon’s victory meal, which he was kind enough to share:
Falcons are rare enough to see in the capital area, let alone downtown. To see one dining on a starling (of which Reykjavík has plenty) is decidedly uncommon. Should you witness a falcon, or any bird of prey, in the middle of eating something, make sure not to approach too closely.
