A ginger cat in Vesturbær has been caught hoarding a number of striped garments stolen from neighbouring laundry rooms, reports Vísir.

Ljósa the cat, who belongs to actress Ólöf Sverrisdóttir, has been infatuated with striped clothing since she was a kitten.

“When she was little she would come home with dirty mittens and such, but now everything she brings home is clean,” said Ólöf. “Still it’s better than her dragging home mice or birds the way some cats do.”

Ólöf has extended her apologies to her neighbours in Vesturbær, admitting that it took some time to piece it all together.

“It took a while for me to work out that these things were turning up because of [Ljósa],” said Ólöf. “At first I didn’t understand why I was finding socks here and there around the house, but eventually I realised that Ljósa was bringing them home. Now she just leaves everything by the front door, though she’d never brought knickers home until last night.”

Ólöf assumes these items are meant as gifts as Ljósa is quite proud when she brings them home.

The image above, taken by Ólöf, shows a collection of the treasures Ljósa has plundered. Ólöf advises her neighbours to consider closing the windows into their laundry rooms to stave off future mischief.
