Famed hot dog stand Bæjarins Beztu will, starting September 1, permanently switch bakeries for its buns.

Bæjarins Beztu has been globally renowned for years, arguably first making its international splash in 2004 when Bill Clinton paid a visit. As everyone knows, part of any great hot dog is the quality of its bun and, as MBL reports, Bæjarins Beztu is about to permanently change who makes theirs.

Björnsbakarí has been making the buns for Bæjarins Beztu on most days for the past 78 years now, while Gæðabakstur has made their buns on weekends and holidays. However, the owner of Björnsbakarí is putting their Skúlagata location up for sale, which will prompt Gæðabakstur to completely take over the bun end of the business from September 1.

Bæjarins Beztu has long been a favorite at the Grapevine, due in part to them being located right behind our offices, but mostly because they really are that good. If you’ve enjoyed their dogs on weekends, you have nothing to fear about the change of bun bakeries.
