A third of managers, chairs and members of Board of Directors at Icelandic enterprises with 50 or more employees were women at the end of 2014, according to Statistics Iceland. This is an increase of 0,4 % since 2013 and 12,8 % since 2007.
In 2010, parliament legislated that at least 40% of Members of Board of Directors must be women and at least 40% must be men at at these bigger enterprises which comprises 2% of all enterprises in Iceland.The number of women in these positions has been growing slowly but steadily since.
At the other 98% of enterprises with less than 50 employees, the ratio of women in these higher positions was 23,5% at the end of 2014.
