Unemployment in Iceland for the month of March is now at 4%, down by over 2% from this time last year.
According to the latest figures from Statistics Iceland, unemployment was at 6.1% in March 2014. Between these two years, 10,400 more people joined the workforce, while the number of unemployed decreased by 3,500.
There were more unemployed men than women, at 4,100 men to 3,500 women. At the same time, more men than women were in the labour market, too, at 95,300 to 87,100.
As is almost always the case, this rate of unemployment is below the average elsewhere in the world. Unemployment in the EU is currently at 9.7%, and in the US, 5.5%.
