Icelander Sigurjón Sighvatsson, a former Twin Peaks producer, told RÚV that he can’t give anything away but is sharing a little bit about how the new season came about.
Although he has known about the announcement for some months, and that Lynch has been considering the prospect of returning to Twin Peaks for some years, Sigurjón will not be producing the show this time around.
Since the announcement the internet has been ablaze with questions, will Kyle MacLachlan return as Dale Cooper? And what about Sheryl Fynn? Will Angelo Badalamenti do the music?
Sigurjón says he may indeed know the answers to these questions and that he could shed a light on it all, “but everything I know is a secret.”
Sigurjón did tell RÚV however, that it was never on the cards originally to return to Twin Peaks 25 years later. That Lynch has only been mulling it over for the last couple of years.
“[Lynch] hasn’t wanted to work in television,” said Sigurjón. “He finds that medium quite restricting. He didn’t want to create content for TV unless he had more creative control.”
It looks like Lynch has gotten what he wished for, there will be 9 episodes in total all of which Lynch plans to direct himself. Lynch will also be co-writing the script with Mark Frost.
