Police chased a mischievous mink this weekend after it surprised ball guests in Harpa’s parking garage.

Vísir reports that as guests made their way to their cars after a charity ball held at Harpa concert hall they became aware of a presence skittering about the parking lot.

“At first we thought it was a giant rat,” said singer and actress Þórunn Erna Clausen. “But on closer inspection we realised it was actually a mink.”

Deciding to involve the police, Þórunn Erna called the authorities, then pointed them in the direction of the mink.

“[The police] chased the mink around for a while and eventually I saw them at the exit, but I’m not sure whether the mink got away or whether they captured it,” said Þórunn Erna. “It was a total farce, we had a good laugh about it.”
