Elementary School Teachers have gone on strike and therefore schools are closed today, reports RÚV. 

After a failed last minute attempt to reach a collective bargaining agreement last night, teachers went ahead with the strike. 

According to the negotiator working on behalf of the Union of Elementary School Teachers, Ólafur Loftsson, salary is the only thing left on the table to settle.
