Private financial cloud provider, Options, want to build a data centre in the Northwest of Iceland, reports Hedgeweek.
Options have confirmed they plan to approach the Icelandic government with a proposal to take a 100-year lease on an area of land in the Westfjords.
The company has been researching locations for their data centre in Sweden, Greenland and Finland but settled on Iceland because of low-cost renewable energy, cool climate and because the mountainous Westfjords will enhance security.
Whether or not the land will be leased to them remains to be seen though Options hope to finish construction by April 2018.
