From Iceland — Disappointment: No Northern Lights!

Disappointment: No Northern Lights!

Published October 16, 2013

Despite street lights being turned off on Tuesday night, there was no show of the whimsical Northern Lights in the Reykjavík area.

After a spectacular show in the sky on Monday evening, people were expecting an even bigger show on Tuesday, as the Met Office‘s Aurora forecast predicted grade 4 Northern Lights.

As reported, the city‘s authorities decided to turn down the lights so that people could enjoy the lights in the sky even more.

However, as a meterologist had pointed out, it‘s the cloud cover forecast that‘s the tricky one and Tuesday night, the cloud cover was too much so there weren‘t any Northern Lights to be seen in Reykjavík.

Hopefully, Prince Harry will learn from this mistake, but Huffington Post reported that His Royal Highness plans on taking his girlfriend to Iceland and propose to her under the Northern Lights.

Harry, it‘s not enough to check out the Aurora forecast, keep an eye on the unpredictable cloud cover too!

Although, the article mentions an ice hotel which can be found Norway and Sweden but not Iceland, confusing Iceland with Scandinavia – a common mistake (all too familiar to the staff at the Grapevine office) so maybe the article isn’t all that accurate.
