The Reykjavík City Library has launched a new feature on its website, allowing fans of Icelandic literature to explore where in the country their favourite works take place.
The Icelandic Literature Map is a Google map of Iceland with dozens of red, green and blue pins marking locations around the country where certain works of literature take place. Red markers indicate children’s books, green markers are historical novels, and all other novels are marked with blue pins. By clicking on a pin a reader can view the cover of the book set in that part of the country as well as a brief description of the book.
The map is a work in progress so it is not exhaustive. Currently the vast majority of books included on the map are Icelandic, though there are some international titles peppered throughout.
