According to numbers released by Keflavík International Airport, 122,000 foreign tourists have visited Iceland so far in 2013. That’s 34,000 more than visited in the first months of 2012, RÚV reports.
March alone saw the arrival of 50 thousand tourists, which is an increase of 45.5% over the same month last year. Brits have been the group with the largest increase in representation among tourists in the country.
Typically the tourism season in Iceland begins in the late spring/early summer, so if this trend continues the summer months should see the country all but overrun.
