Following right on the heels of his recent conviction for tax evasion, ex-Baugur boss Jón Ásgeir Johannesson has become a non-executive director of the board of Murdock, a U.K. chain of high-end men’s barbers and groomers, The Telegraph reports.
Jón Skaftason, a colleague of Jón Ásgeir’s at Guru Capital, joins the controversial Icelandic businessman on the Murdock board. Guru Capital is an investment capital firm owned by Ingibjörg Pálmadóttir, Jón Ásgeir’s wife. Guru Capital is also making moves into the U.K. market, having acquired a 25% stake in British premium burger firm Muddy Boots recently.
Jón Ásgeir is no stranger to the London business scene, having controlled a wide range of British companies before he drove Baugur Group to a £1 billion collapse in 2008.
