Some Flights To And From Iceland To Resume

Published May 23, 2011

Despite the continuing eruption from the volcano at Grímsvötn, Icelandair will be allowing some flights into and out of Keflavík international airport this afternoon.
Vísir reports that flights from Stockholm, Paris, Oslo, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Helsinki, London, Copenhagen and Bergen/Stavanger will be delayed, but will arrive at about 19:00.
Flights from the airport and bound for New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, Toronto, Boston and Washington are expected to leave tonight at about 21:00.
A flight from Seattle to Iceland will arrive tomorrow, and there will be two flights to and from London this afternoon, in addition to a flight to and from Copenhagen.
Do keep in mind that these plans could change. We at the Grapevine encourage you to follow Icelandair’s updated list of flight conditions regularly. Iceland Express also has a dedicated page regarding their flights.
The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management is asking that people directly south or southeast of the eruption stay indoors when possible, but if they do go out, that they wear protective goggles and respiratory coverings.
For more general information on the eruption itself that puts facts before drama, we also recommend you check out this handy FAQ.
