From Iceland — Quarashi Preparing For Comeback

Quarashi Preparing For Comeback

Published March 31, 2011

One of Iceland’s first successful hip-hop acts is apparently getting ready to play live again.
Vísir reports that their sources say the band is planning to play live this summer. However, they will be sharing the stage with numerous other bands at a show called The Best Outdoor Festival.
The Facebook page for the festival, though, only confirms the date and who the creators are – no line-up or even venue has yet been decided. Nonetheless, over 1,750 have already confirmed attendance.
Quarashi was formed 15 years ago and, if not Iceland’s first hip-hop band, were at the very least the first successful one. They stopped playing in Iceland at the peak of the “cute generation” music movement, in 2005. At that time, they tried their hand at success in the US and Japan, apparently doing well for themselves in the latter country especially.
Members of Quarashi would not comment when sought by Vísir to confirm or deny the comeback rumour.
