Who are you? What can we expect from your Airwaves appearance, and what can we expect of you in general?
I´m Eberg, and you can expect me in more electric mood than usually at Airwaves. In general, you can expect a soft, tipsy guy who barks occasionally.
What are some of the acts you’ll want to see at this festival, and why?
Jan Mayen = energy + melodies + fun night out.
Leaves = classy + brilliant
Vicky = The girls can play + a handsome drummer
Toggi = heard them rehearse and they are in awesome form
Feldberg = Why the fuck not?
Are there any acts missing from the bill that you’d like to see on there?
Would love to see Bang Gang play there.
This year sees fewer ‘large’ international acts on the schedule. Do you believe this changes anything for the festival in general, and its spirit?
Iceland Airwaves has always been about the grassroots in my eyes. I´m not there to see massive international bands. I´m there to see some local bands, and a few interesting international ones.
Looking back, do you have a favourite edition of Iceland Airwaves? And if so, why?
The first one people attend is usually their favourite. It´s the spirit of it that gets you. My first one was in 2003.
A lot of our readers are first time Airwaves-visitors. Do you have any tips for them? What to see, what to do, what to avoid, etc? Where to buy records? Or a good place to grab a bite or get away from it all for a while?
Hangover burger and beer at Vitabar. The rest of the day should be spent at the record shop 12 Tónar on Skólavörðustígur.
Given that most Airwaves-visitors won’t have a lot of time in their schedule to see the Icelandic countryside, are there any nature-havens close by that you’d recommend?
Find out when the tide is in…. drive to the river Fossá in Hvalfjörður. Bring a pot, wellies, beer and a portable gas heater. Pick some mussels, put them and the beer in a pot… heat it up. Yummy!
