Just days after Social Democrat MP Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir made a colorful statement on live radio, one fashion line decided to immortalize the exclamation on clothing.
The incident in question took place last week, when Þórunn was being interviewed for the noon news by the state broadcasting service, RÚV. Apparently, a man in the crowd was yelling things at her, and a journalist present told Þórunn that the man was his cousin. Þórunn, in turn, said, “Segðu frænda þínum að hoppa uppí rassgatið á sér” (literally, “Tell your cousin to hop up his ass”, i.e., to go screw himself). The statement was broadcast over the radio.
Þórunn apologized later on, saying that the statement was only meant as a joke, and that “the punk” in her “had taken over”.
The people at Weemad Design have now seized upon this golden opportunity to immortalize the former Minister for the Environment’s words through fashion. As shown above, the statement has been printed on T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and hoodies, as well as on mousepads, aprons, and coffee mugs. The products themselves can be ordered online.
