Dutch station VARA has released a video of Icelandic singer Ásgeir Trausti playing a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Vísir reports. Ásgeir is currently in The Netherlands for the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBAs). He is one of ten emerging artists/bands who received a 2014 EBBA.
Funded by the EU Culture Programme, the EBBA honors “the success of 10 debuting European artists in selling albums and touring outside their home territory,” and “aims to stimulate the cross-border circulation of artists’ works and to highlight Europe’s great musical diversity.”
Other 2014 EBBA winners include the “British dance duo” Disclosure, Sweden’s Icona Pop (whose song “I Love It,” you have most certainly heard a million times by now), and German electronic artist Zedd, who recently signed to Skrillex’s OWSLA label.
Ásgeir will also perform live during the EBBAs ceremony, which will be hosted by BBC host Jools Holland and broadcast live tonight on YouTube on at 6PM CET.
