Six Icelandic music acts received grants from the Iceland Music Export (ÚTÓN), to take their projects abroad. Interestingly, Viking/folk music metal band Skálmöld, received a grant to tour Europe and Dikta is heading for Germany to record an album.
The ÚTÓN fund supports Icelandic musicians who want to increase their target audience. Many applications were submitted in July, but travel grants are awarded each month whereas other grants are awarded four times a year.
Awardees this month include:
Alexandra Chernyshova, for anopera at the New York Center for Contemporary Opera.
Myrra Rós, for touring in Estonia.
Lord Pusswhip, Two Step Horror, Captain Fufanu and AMFJ for a concert in New York at The Knitting Factory and Goodbye Blue Monday.
Dikta, for touring and recording in Germany.
Skálmöld, for the band’s European tour.
Ung Nordisk Music, for introducing new classical Icelandic music in the centre for new music and audio art in Oslo, Norway.
