An Icelander who previously earned accolades at the Palm Springs Shortfest has won the Nordic Talents film and television competition.

Director Þórður Pálsson took away the top honours at the competition, RÚV reports, which is supported by the Nordic Film And Television Fund and takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Þórður is a graduate of both the Icelandic Film School and the National Film and Television School in Britain. Has graduation project, the short film Brothers, received special recognition from the Palm Springs Shortfest earlier this summer.

Nordic Talents is a pitch competition, with the aim “to introduce graduating students from the Nordic film schools to the Nordic producers and financiers, and – equally important – to give the producers and financiers the opportunity to meet the future talents.”

To get an idea of Þórður’s style, enjoy the trailer for Brothers below.
