The new U.S Ambassador to Iceland, Robert C. Barber, has published a video explaining a little bit about himself in anticipation of his arrival to Iceland, reports RÚV.

Barber will formally take over his duties in Iceland on January 28 and explains in his video that he plans to expand trade and investment between the two nations and cooperate to maintain stability in the arctic.

As reported, Barber was a major fundraiser for the Obama campaign. This fact was highlighted in a segment on the Daily Show, where Jon Stewart mocked the issue of patronage appointments within the Democratic Party.

In an effort to introduce his more personal side, Barber discusses his background and love of the Boston Red Sox. But what really makes Barber endearing are his efforts to speak the language, introducing himself and signing off in Icelandic.
