From Iceland — Icelander Key Player In Critically Acclaimed Film

Icelander Key Player In Critically Acclaimed Film

Published September 10, 2013

A soon-to-be-released film receiving widespread critical praise owes much to one Icelander who helped make the director’s vision a reality.
Gravity, which is set to be released next month, bears the rare distinction of a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Some critics have even speculated that it might just be the best space movie ever. As critics base a lot of their praise on the look of the movie, many of these accolades can be attributed to Icelander Daði Einarsson, who was the animation director for the film.
Daði told RÚV that he spent some six months with director Alfonso Cuarón working on the animation in this film. The end result, Daði says, is nothing short of extraordinary. “Cuarón is a non-traditional director,” he said. “He doesn’t want to make the typical film.”
A high definition trailer for the film can be seen below (warning: not for those prone to vertigo or afraid of heights):
