Grapevine’s Super Special Sónar Special, pt. 2: The Mecca Of Vinyl

Hey guess what? We made you all a series of fantastically rough and short videos where we check in with some of the cooler than cool Icelandic musicians that are set to storm Harpa once Sónar Reykjavík commences only next week! Our loving host is none other than Árni Grétar, AKA Futuregrapher, who as it happens will also be bleeping and blooping up a storm at Sónar (be sure to check him out, he’s great!).

In this second episode, Futuregrapher visits thereminist Hekla at the Mecca of vinyl albums in Reykjavík; Lucky Records Record Store where she is enjoying the sensual melodies of Tom Jones. She released her debut album ‘Hekla’ online in the summer of 2014. It features atmospheric electronic horror music that combines theremin and vocals.

She will be playing on Friday February 13 at the SonarComplex (presented by Macland).

Be sure to check out Hekla’s web page and her Facebook page. She was also one of the acts chosen by DJ flugvél og geimskip on our recent Sónar podcast – you can give that a listen here if you like.
