Menningarnótt Murderer Convicted

The person who killed the 17-year-old Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir on Menningarnótt last August has been convicted of murder. In addition to the murder charge, he is convicted of two cases of attempted murder.

On Menningarnótt, the 16-year old convict assaulted a group of five teenagers. The group sat in an idle car, which the criminal broke into. He repeatedly stabbed on boy while three victims escaped the vehicle. One girl was left in the car and was subsequently assaulted by the boy.

Finally, he attacked another girl, stabbing her in the heart. She died a few days later at a hospital.

Parents of the deceased each demanded 17 million ISK for compensation. On behalf of the girl and boy who got stabbed, a total of 13 million ISK are demanded for compensation.
