The weather forecast for November 30, is expected to bring about poor travel conditions in various parts of the country, hindering voting on election day.

Heavy blizzards are expected in East Iceland, with snowstorms hitting the North, Northwest Iceland and the Westfjords. Earlier in the week, the National Electoral Commission discussed the scenario with district committees.

In conversation with RÚV, head of the electoral commission Kristin Edwards said that polling locations in the East might be delayed. A decision will be made when the conditions are evident.

The weather might have a serious effect on the election as no ballots may be tallied until voting has concluded at every location in the country. Early voting has been prolonged until 18:00 in Egilsstaðir and Eskifjörður, and until 16:00 in Seyðisfjörður.

Search and rescue teams in Strandir, Reykhólar and Dalabyggð in the Westfjords are expected to transport electoral data to their tally point in Borgarnes.
