A Member of Parliament’s pig, destined to become the main event at Christmas dinner, made a break for it yesterday by escaping the MP’s farm, reports Vísir.

“Yeah, we managed to catch him,” said Progressive MP, Ásmundur Einar Daðason. According to Vísir only one pig – who goes by the name, Sóli – broke free from the pen and was spotted roaming around Mosfellsdalur.

“[Sóli] must have a sense for what’s to come, because he’s on the way to [the slaughterhouse] on Monday,” said Ásmundur.

Sadly for Sóli, he was tracked down and returned to his pig pen to meet his destiny as chow this Christmas Eve.

“Well he’s back in a safe place now, and presumably will be in an even safer place on Monday,” said Ásmundur. Safe, meaning dead.
