There appears to be a possibility that the next Star Trek movie might be filmed in Iceland.
After the success of the previous Star Trek movie, released in 2009, producers have been working on keep the momentum going on the franchise. As it is now, there is a great deal of secrecy about the movie, including the plot or even the title. However, it is known that JJ Abrams will direct the film, and that it will once again star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Simon Pegg.
Vísir now reports that there are rumours circulating that part of the movie will be shot in Iceland. Due to the aforementioned secrecy, there is little that can be confirmed, but there has been speculation that Iceland will be the setting for Planet Vulcan.
Kristinn Þórðarson, a producer at Saga Film, refused to comment on the matter.
There have been a number of “leaks” regarding the new Star Trek movie, with photos from the set and shooting turning up everywhere this past spring. The most prominent image making the rounds has been of Zachary Quinto applying the Vulcan nerve pinch.
