Former FBI Agent Searches For Lagarfljót Worm

Published May 2, 2012

A television show from America’s NBC network was in east Iceland over the past week, searching for the mythical Worm of Lagarfljót.
As reported, last February Hjörtur Kjerúlf took a video of what appears to be a long object moving in a snake-like motion across the current of the river feeding into the lake. There was speculation that this was the famed Worm of Lagarfljót, a giant serpent that reportedly lives in the lake for which it is named.
The video went viral, attracting attention as far afield as Japan, and although it was since been debunked as fishing netting tangled in ice, this apparently has not stopped the television show “Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files” from coming to Iceland to search for the beast, Vísir reports.
About 20 people were camped out at Hrafnkelsstaður, near the location, supposedly lying in wait for the creature. The show’s host, Ben Hansen, is a former FBI agent, and has apparently been enjoying his stay in Iceland, if his Twitter feed is anything to go by.
No word yet on whether or not they spotted the Worm.
