United Airlines flight 949 made an emergency landing at Keflavík International Airport today at 14:44 after the pilots and flight-crew reported smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The Boeing 767-300 departed from London’s Heathrow airport three and a half hours earlier and was on route to Chicago’s O’Hare when the problem was identified.
Once safely landed in Keflavík the crew decided it best to evacuate the 200 passengers on board while the cause of the smoke was determined. At the time of reporting the source of smoke was not yet identified and no announcement had been made as to whether the Boeing 767 would continue to its destination.
