A group of students and teachers have officially broken the Icelandic record for the largest group Gangnam Style dance-off.
RÚV reports that there was quite a lot of fun to be had this morning in Hafnarfjörður, as evidenced by the video leading the article. There, we see about 1,000 teachers and students from the Hraunvallaskóli school taking part in Iceland’s largest Gangnam Style dance-off, setting a national record.
It should be noted, however, that as there are no previously recorded group Gangnam Style dance-offs, the achievement was theoretically already made the moment more than one person decided to do the famed dance publicly. However, a thousand people is a fairly large number, so anyone in Iceland hoping to break the record will have their work cut out for them.
In case you haven’t had internet access for the past six months or so, Gangnam Style (강남스타일) is a single by South Korean singer and actor PSY. The video satirises not just the wealthy neighbourhood of Seoul for which the song is named, but also pokes fun at the typical tropes employed by many, if not most, K-pop videos.
