Of Monsters and Men have surpassed the 100,000 mark in terms of album sales, most of them in the North America.
As has been reported, Of Monsters and Men have been on a fast upward trajectory lately. Their album, My Head Is An Animal, moved over 55,000 units in its first week alone – surpassing Madonna for units sold that week – and have been ranking high on Amazon and iTunes.
Vísir now reports that the band has sold over 100,000 units; 95,000 of them in the US and Canada. The sales reflect how well the band has been charting lately – reaching the sixth position on Billboard, surpassing any other Icelandic band in music history.
The album was recorded in Reykjavík, under the guiding hand of Jacquire King, who has previously worked with the Kings of Leon. The export and Icelandic versions of the album differ as well – the exported version has two new songs which are not on the Icelandic version, but there are also two songs on the Icelandic version that do not appear on the exported version.
The album has been critically acclaimed, getting a 3-star rating from Rolling Stone. Ásmundur Jónsson, director of the Society of Record Producers in Iceland, believes this is only the beginning for the band, saying, “It’s just getting started. This album is going to start selling a lot more.”
