Capital area police are preparing for tonight’s football match between Iceland and Croatia, amongst other ways, by distributing a map of free parking spaces near the Laugardalsvöllur national stadium.
Iceland is only one game away from qualifying for the World Cup, as they play against Croatia tonight at Laugardalsvöllur. A great many tickets for the game were quickly snatched up, and a large turn-out is expected.
MBL reports that the police are also interested in the match, in particularly as they prepare to be out in force to manage crowd control and deal with illegal parking.
Laugardalsvöllur’s parking lot is not large enough to accommodate everyone who bought a ticket for this match, and other spaces will have to be found. To this end, police have offered a map showing free parking spaces (marked in red) around Laugardalsvöllur, and how many spaces (stæði) are available in each lot.
All told, there are 1,208 free parking spaces around Laugardalsvöllur, in addition to the 530 spaces already available at the stadium.
Attendees are advised to take full advantage of this information – parking illegally could land you a 5,000 ISK parking ticket.
